What If We Look At Government Like a Restaurant

Restaurant

I thought of a great comparison the other day that I figure I should share.

Imagine the USA as a restaurant/diner and the politicians as the employees. Consider that we the citizens are the customers.
Now consider the following scenario:

You order a meal at the diner, the waitress/waiter brings you your meal which you immediately begin to eat. Upon your first bite you discover that the food is terrible, undercooked, was badly prepared and you are completely dissatisfied with it. This scenario happens in restaurants across the country daily I'm sure. What do you do as a customer? You speak out and alert the waitress/waiter to your situation. Here's where my comparison comes into play: how would you react if the waitress/waiter answered your complaint by telling you
"oh, that's the cook's fault! He did a terrible job! He never cooks food right, he's hard to work with, and if I had things my way we'd start the menu over, rewrite it from the ground up and I would change the recipe to include... {zyx...new ingredients}"
This answer would surely compel even the most passive customer to most likely NEVER visit this establishment ever again because of it's shoddy business practices... Well this is how I see our government working when the issue at play becomes partisan politics and I am astounded we the people even remotely accept this behavior. I say, if politicians can't take responsibility for the government they work for and the people (customers) they are serving then they should be fired and replaced just like a bad employee in the workplace. This goes for all levels of government as well I think.

Honestly, I think the President has been the best (in appearance at least) at following this ethic. He at least has several times scolded his own party members during debates to quit campaigning and quit with the talking points, he has continually tried (almost too hard many of my friends believe) to bring together both sides of the government to solve the people's concerns and needs as well as the financial system's. In essence the President is playing the part of the restaurant manager and so far he's been reasonable in this regard I think. He of course could do better. I think he put too much focus on the financial sector (this could be like the restaurant manager giving too much attention to the big customers {the banks} his restaurant has and not enough for the day to day customers {the American people}). His and federal secretary Geithner's defense has been that without the financial sector stabilized, the rest of the country would have failed and we would have had another Great Depression. I can't claim I am financially savvy enough to argue for or against this.

But then as I thought about this basic concept, I realized that I take serious concern with what a lot of politicians do to win votes with their constituents: the conservative right. When I hear a conservative politician say things like "the failure of the government" or "I don't want the government deciding..." or any other trash talking against the very establishment that they are a part of, I can't help but think, then quit and let someone else do your job you idiot! If you think of this particular issue in terms of my restaurant comparison, what if your server answered your complaint about he/she's service or food quality with something like:
"I agree with you! This place sucks! The management is terrible, we can't get our orders out to you customers on time, and I would never eat here!"
This behavior is unacceptable and if these people were employees of any other job field, they would be fired on the spot for such terrible behavior. How dare they take the weakling approach and not take responsibility for their government's actions and get the job done! Instead, they point fingers at the very establishment they work for and have been voted into office to support with demise and they are quick to absolve themselves of any liability or responsibility for the problems the government has. This approach is bad for business and I say it's bad for America.

The point of government pointing fingers at each other isn't restricted to one party in our system, this is something they both do extensively. However, the Republicans are the only ones I know of that actually cop out and speak against the entire government that is their life's career. Maybe this is why movements like the "Tea Party" (which is a mindless clustering of idiotic promises of change that don't even make sense) have come about, and maybe this is why most Americans are listed as Moderate... Because we're done with this establishment. We want new employees and new management that can handle their business like professionals. Obama ran with the promise of change... Kinda reminds me of change of management... Now, we're finding out that the staff is still doing a terrible job even with new management, and if management doesn't assure us that we're really getting the change we voted for - then we might be needing new management as well.

Here's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Now, apparently Republicans are banking on their anti-government message as their main way to gain office! www.reuters.com/article/idUSN0321698320100303
How is being a traitor and proudly dividing up this country in half any sort of patriotism? Why don't they understand that even if they win a majority, half of America will be against them?!?! It's the same stupid childish game played out over and over again... I weep for this country's future... I really do...
